Dr Naheem Jabbar is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology and an expert in the political ecology of the Global South. His consultancy focuses on the intersection of military globalisation, climate breakdown, and the socio-political stability of marginalised communities, with specific regional expertise in Pakistan (Punjab and Sindh).
He provides high-level analysis on how large-scale climate adaptation planning—at both national and international levels—impacts vulnerable populations, particularly landless agriculturalists. His recent work evaluates the distributive impacts of environmental disasters, such as the 2022 Pakistan floods, and the “feudalisation” of rural communities in the wake of catastrophic events.
Core Consultancy Areas:
Climate Risk & Adaptation: Assessing the impact of post-flood toxicity and environmental degradation on rural livelihoods.
Conflict & Civil Society: Analysing the effects of militarisation on minority citizenship and communal violence management.
Policy Evaluation: Investigating “organised non-responsibility” in state and NGO responses to climate displacement.
Subaltern Dynamics: Mapping non-state actor responses to military operations and environmental crises.
